Wildlife/Zoo Photography

Animals are beautiful and are an important part of our world. And we want to photograph them, but sometimes it is hard, especially for wildlife. We can blink and then they are gone and we missed our chance. There are some tricks that help to photograph wildlife.

One is a park or backyard if you have one. These are good ways to practice photographing wildlife. And you don’t have to go far! A backyard may not seem as exciting as a safari, but there are numerous wildlife species. You just have to be patient and don’t be hard on yourself if you missed a shot or if it’s blurry. Just practicing and getting to know your camera settings can improve you’re photograph and make your way to a safari.

Another way to improve photography wildlife is to go to zoos. I know that zoos get a bad rap but zoos are for the conservation of species or if the animal won’t survive in the wild due to an injury such as a broken wing. This is a good way to get close to wildlife and it creates its own challenge. Sometimes an animal is behind a fence with holes and the camera keeps focusing on the fence. But my dad taught me tricks for this and for aquariums. Put your camera close to one of the holes in the fence and this will just have the animal in the image. And for aquariums, put your camera up against the glass, and that will also reduce glare.
